The Division of Paediatric Nephrology provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of infants, children and adolescents with renal diseases.
The Team


Clinical Services
The Division provides a large variety of inpatient services ranging from managing children with simple renal disorders such as urinary tract infection, through to complicated problems such as acute renal failure. We provide consultation to hospitalized children with kidney disorders, whether they are in General Paediatric Wards, Paediatric Surgical Wards, Neonatal Unit or in Paediatric Intensive Care. Advanced renal treatment modalities include renal biopsy, peritoneal dialysis, haemofiltration and management of post-transplant patients.
Outpatients are seen at Renal Clinic at Li Ka Shing Specialist Clinic. Renal patients requiring regular follow up include those with chronic renal failure, nephrotic syndrome, reflux nephropathy, proteinuria, haematuria, hypertension, and congenital kidney disorders.
Research
On-going research includes assessment and management of antenatal hydronephrosis, follow-up children who consumed melamine tainted milk products, and lupus nephritis.
Educational activities
The Division provides education to medical students of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The staff provide public education through lectures and contribution to health education materials.
