Biography

 

Dr Cheng obtained his medical degree with honor from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1998 and has completed paediatric training in Hong Kong. He obtained the Fellowships of the Hong Kong College of Paediatricians and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Paediatrics) in 2006.
He received oversea fellowship training in paediatric infectious diseases and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada in 2004 and Division of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 2009. He awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine (CUHK) in 2010. He was awarded the first fellowship in Paediatric Immunology and Infectious Diseases from the Hong Kong College of Paediatricians in 2012.
Dr. Cheng’s primary research interest is infectious diseases in paediatric oncology and haematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients. He is particularly interested in the area of the vaccine-preventable infectious diseases in paediatric oncology patients. Furthermore, he also actively involved in the research area targeting at the long-term effects and outcome of childhood cancer survivors. He had more than sixty publications in scientific peer-review journals.
He was awarded “Ten Outstanding Young Persons” in 2013. The team was awarded “Hospital Authority Outstanding Team Award” in 2014.
